Performance Art

For my performance art I wanted to experiment with pop culture, technology, and how people relate to it. I chose to preform the "Dougie" a dance made popular by the music group Cali Swag District, The song has been all over youtube and plays at most clubs and bars at some point in the night. The dance is a side to side swag, followed by rubbing your head back with your hands like you are "Super Fresh". I went to different locations and did the dougie, reactions from people passing by were mixed but most just seemed a little confused. I think most people are unaware of the dougie, or just were not feeling my swag. Haters.

Below is a the video on how to dougie for reference.

Grid Project

For my grid project I used spare change to create a ying yang symbol, pennies and nickels were used. If you want to try and take some meaning out of what I did I guess you could say that money balances out the world.

Great Depression

The great depression was when the stock market crashed, the world was sent into turmoil people were out of work unable to provide for their families.

In 2008 we went through a recession. It was tough people lost their jobs, but people were still mainly able to provide for their families and survive until things turned around.

Currently the state of the US economy is still suffering and some areas and the only true solution is to adapt to how the world is changed and start living progressively into a new direction.

Madame Butterfly

This is quite animation, it starts off seemingly nice and tranquil story of a mother, the story progressively gets stranger though out. The child is born out of the mothers fishbowl? Strange but I think it is trying to tell the audience that the child was dependent inside of the mother, now birthed the child changes into a human, although the child is still somewhat dependent on the mother it now can survive with or without her. The cord to the mother to me means that the mother is watching over and caring for the child but at a distances that allows the child to learn and explore the world. The man taking the child from the mother into his own family is a sad part of the story, she may have a better life with her new family than with the mother but it is a hard situation. The mother then dismembers herself, to me this is showing how the mothers time in life is done, her role in life was to provide for her child, but her child was taken away, so what other purpose does she serve? She obviously sees none and takes herself apart.
